Rant: I was sure dub was always worse than sub

I used to think anyone watching dubbed anime was just being lazy, lol. Then I caught the English cast for Cowboy Bebop and realized some performances actually bring extra personality to the characters. Has anyone else had a dub change their whole opinion on a show?

Cowboy Bebop's dub was the one that flipped my stance too, Spike's voice just hit different from the Japanese version and made the show way more fun. Never thought a few voice actors could change my whole opinion on something.

hit different" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here lol. I mean yeah, Cowboy Bebop's dub is solid, Spike's voice actor killed it no argument there. But acting like some voice actors can flip your whole opinion on a show is a bit much. The writing, the animation, the music, that's the real core. If the Japanese version didn't click for you, maybe you just weren't feeling the original vibe and the dub just made it easier to get into. That's more about you than the actual quality of the dub itself. People act like it's this huge philosophical debate when really it's just preference on who's talking.

Wait, @jana119 are you telling me you actually sat through the full first episode of Bebop subbed before switching?
