Showerthought: the constant 'is this anime underrated' posts are just karma farming with extra steps

Last month I saw the same show get called both 'underrated' and 'overrated' in different threads on the same day. Has anyone else noticed these circular arguments are just people wanting validation for their hot takes?

yeah "valid takes spark discussion" hits different. my buddy posted something about local pizza places being overrated and got roasted for like three days straight, but at least people actually cared enough to argue. boring stuff just sits there with two likes from his mom.

and that's exactly why the boring stuff gets ignored lol. like if you say "pizza is good" nobody's got anything to push back on, it's just a fact of life. but when my friend said "Pepperoni is the worst pizza topping" the whole group chat exploded for hours. the real kicker is that boring opinions don't even make you think, they're just background noise. valid takes make you stop and actually consider if you agree or not, and that's where the real conversation lives. it's like the difference between a still pond and a river with some rocks in it, the bumps make things interesting.
