Customer told me their dryer just needed a "reset" last Tuesday
Guy insisted I just needed to press the reset button on his dryer. I drove 45 minutes to push a button that doesn't exist. Has anyone else had a homeowner argue with you about a part that isn't even on the machine?

My buddy who does HVAC had this lady swear up and down her furnace had a "summer switch" that she turned every year. He spent an hour digging through the manual and looking online before he finally called her back and said "ma'am, that switch does not exist on this model." She got PISSED and told him he was just too lazy to find it. Took a supervisor coming out to finally convince her.

@ray363 hit the nail on the head with that furnace story. I had a guy once insist his washing machine had a "water saver button" that would cut his bills in half. Looked at the diagram, the manual, even called the manufacturer. Nothing. He kept saying "I read about it online." Had to show him on the phone that the model he owned didn't even have that feature built in. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes you just gotta pull up the spec sheet right there in front of them to kill the argument.
