The three way valve on a Fisher Paykel fridge taught me something last Tuesday
I was out on a call in Tempe fixing a dishwasher that was leaking, and the homeowner mentioned their ice maker stopped working a few weeks ago. I poked around and found the three way water valve was stuck partially open, dumping water into the dispenser line. It was a slow drip that built up over time. Has anyone else found that these valves just develop problems from hard water buildup more than actual electrical failures?

Bet you could fix it with a $10 inline filter instead.

Same @aaron884 , same. My fix would somehow make the leak worse.

That's actually interesting you mention that. I saw a YouTube video where a guy tested a few of those cheap inline filters on a leaky faucet and the water pressure dropped so much it barely trickled out. But he opened the faucet up and the real problem was a piece of rubber gasket that had broken off and was lodged deeper in the line. So the filter would have done nothing for that, you know? Sometimes it's not the water quality, it's just a little piece of junk stuck in the wrong place.
