PSA: Check your ropes before every climb. I learned the hard way.
Last week in Denver, I grabbed my main climbing line like always. Didn't notice the fray near the eye splice. Two hours up a big elm, it snapped on a redirect. I fell 12 feet, broke my ankle. Lucky it wasn't worse. Anyone else check their gear daily or just me?
Man it's wild how the little stuff like that can catch up with you later... never thought about how different rope materials might hide damage better than others until I messed up a dyneema line that looked totally fine.
