Yeah, I've been eyeing those things for a while. My bank account keeps telling me no, but my blurry star photos are a pretty strong argument. I'm still in the "prop the camera on a rock and pray" phase of astrophotography. The difference in your shots is probably insane. I just need to accept that my next hobby purchase is going to hurt.

I read an article that said the "prop the camera on a rock and pray" method only gets you so far before you hit a wall. The tracker lets you use much longer exposures without the stars turning into streaks, so you can actually capture the colors and details. It's the main thing separating snapshots from real astrophotos. I was stubborn about it for years, trying to stack a million short exposures instead. Finally getting one felt like unlocking a whole new part of the hobby. Was the article right about it being a total game changer for you?
