Chased a bad ground for 3 days on a Chevy Silverado
I had a 2015 Silverado come in with random electrical gremlins, lights dimming and the radio cutting out. Turns out a ground strap behind the passenger side headlight had corroded almost completely through, but it looked fine from the top. Has anyone else spent way too long tracking down something that simple?

Had a buddy with an old F150 that kept killing batteries overnight. He replaced the alternator, the battery, even the stereo thinking it was draining something. Took it to three different shops before some old timer at a parts store noticed the ground cable from the battery to the frame was green and crusty under the insulation.

Tell your buddy he just paid for three shops to not check the most basic thing on the planet lmao. That old timer probably saw the green crust and thought "yep, another one who never learned about corrosion." It's like trying to fix your internet by buying a new router when the cable is literally chewed through by a dog. Ground cables are the forgotten stepchild of car repairs, they never get any love until they leave you stranded. Your buddy should frame that old ground cable as a trophy for all the wasted money lol.
