Old lift arm drop scared me straight about safety pins
My shop in Tucson has a two post lift from the 90s that always made me nervous. Last month I watched a customer walk under it while a tech was lowering a truck, and the arm slipped about 6 inches before the pin caught. I started checking the safety latch on every single lift every morning, takes 2 minutes but nobody else does it. Anyone else run into lazy lift habits at other shops?

I used to walk under lifts like I was invincible, then I saw a video of one dropping and now I check pins like they owe me money. In my experience the lazy habit is real at every shop I've been in, takes two minutes but most guys just assume it's fine. Your mileage may vary but you're not wrong to be the annoying guy checking every morning.
