Pro tip: Flying to that overseas training site costs more than it's worth.
My team got better results from video calls than from the jet lag and hassle.

Yeah, that "default to the complicated fix" thing charlie_ellis mentioned is so true. I was the guy who always pushed for the in-person team briefing, thought it was the only way to get real talk going. But after seeing how much clearer things stayed when we just hopped on a video call, with everyone awake and focused in their own space, I had to switch sides. The fancy trip just wasn't worth the fog.

Honestly see this everywhere now, where we default to the complicated, expensive fix. We'll schedule a whole in-person meeting that eats half a day when a five-minute call would do, or fly a relative out to help with something we could sort locally. Ngl, it's like we're allergic to the simple answer right in front of us.

Read something about how our brains trick us into thinking harder tasks mean better results. Like there was this study where people saw a complicated fix as more valuable than a simple one, even if both did the same thing. Makes you wonder if we're just wired to avoid the easy way out sometimes.
