Warning: Tried the "shortcut" trail near Glacier Creek last weekend
Followed a faint path I found on some random blog that claimed it shaved 3 miles off the main loop. Ended up bushwhacking for 2 hours through thick brush and nearly stepped on a rattlesnake. Learned the hard way that sticking to official routes beats saving time. Anyone else run into fake trail markers out there?

Wait, was this trail up near the old logging road that's all overgrown now? I swear I followed the same blog post like 2 years ago and ended up sliding down a muddy bank into a creek. It took me an hour to climb back out and my boots were ruined. The thing is, whoever keeps making these fake shortcuts must really hate people because they always look kinda maintained at the start. I even found a spray painted arrow on a tree once that led straight into a patch of poison oak. Forest service really needs to scrub those old blog posts or put up better signs, but I guess that costs money they don't have.

Went through the same mess last fall. Ended up using a GPS app that shows old logging roads with satellite view, saved me from those fake arrows.
