Am I the only one who thought a rain barrel was a waste of space?

I always figured collecting water was more hassle than it was worth, but my partner insisted we try one last spring. After a single dry month, we had enough saved to keep the vegetable patch alive without touching the hose. Has anyone else had a simple setup actually save their plants?

Wait, you made it through a whole dry month? That's actually wild. Our little barrel runs out after like, two weeks of no rain. Maybe we just need a bigger one, honestly.

Yeah I used to think bigger was always better too. Then I realized half our problem was just losing water to leaks and evaporation. Fixing that made way more difference than getting a giant tank.

Honestly the size of the barrel is only part of it. What you're watering makes a huge difference. My veggies are all drought tolerant stuff now, like peppers and herbs, so the saved water goes way further. A bigger tank just means more water sitting there if your plants aren't thirsty to begin with.
