Vent: I just wasted $60 on a 'self-heating' sourdough proofing box that barely got warm.

It promised to hold a perfect 78 degrees for my starter, but after a full week of it barely hitting 70, my loaves came out denser than bricks, so has anyone found a reliable way to keep a starter warm in a drafty apartment?

Honestly just use your oven with the light on.

Wait, does that actually work? @riley_schmidt, I'm curious if the light bulb puts out enough heat to make a real difference for proofing dough. My oven just seems to stay cold with the light on.

How about trying a heating pad under the bowl, because my oven light trick failed too lol
