Did anyone else discover their oven runs 25 degrees hot the hard way?
Made banana bread at my sister's place in Boise and it came out perfect, but the same recipe at home burns every time, so now I'm wondering if I spent two years learning nothing and my oven has just been lying to me the whole time.
Ovens can absolutely be off, but 25 degrees every single time? That sounds more like a you problem than an oven problem, lol. Two different kitchens means two different pans, two different rack spots, and probably a sister who preheats way longer than you do. Also if you keep opening the door to check on it, you're dropping the temp and then it overcompensates on the next batch. Next time you bake at home, grab a cheap oven thermometer and actually test it before you blame the machine. My money's on the recipe needing a small tweak, not a new oven.
