Pro tip: My bank's mobile deposit failed on a $750 check last Friday

I tried to deposit a client payment through the app, but it kept saying 'image unclear' even after three attempts in good light. Ended up having to drive to a branch 20 minutes away before they closed. Has anyone found a trick to get mobile deposit to actually work right on older checks?

My phone's camera is so bad, it probably thinks the check is a ghost (or just my terrible handwriting).
