Warning: my bank's new 'fraud alert' system flagged my own mortgage payment

I set up the auto-pay for my house in Toledo last week, and the next day I got a frantic text asking if I'd authorized a 'large, suspicious transaction' to the exact lender name I'd just entered. It took a 45 minute call to convince them I was paying myself into debt on purpose. Has anyone else's bank gotten a little too eager with the security flags lately?

Honestly that is wild they flagged your own mortgage payment. Tbh I'd be so mad about wasting 45 minutes on the phone. It feels like the systems are getting worse at telling normal stuff from real fraud. My credit union once froze my card for buying groceries at the store I always go to.

Yeah, that sounds incredibly frustrating to deal with.

Gavin_hill27's situation makes me wonder if the fraud systems are just too sensitive now. They might be flagging everything to avoid getting sued.
