Hit 500 fades in my book and the last one was on a guy who wanted a 'dolphin' shape
He brought a picture from a cartoon, and I had to explain hair doesn't work like that. Anyone ever get a request that made you just stop and laugh?

You said real life has rules cartoons don't, but honestly, cartoons have rules too. They're just different ones, like squash and stretch or exaggerated shapes. The real issue is when someone doesn't get that the rules for drawing hair aren't the same as the rules for cutting it. You can't just make it defy gravity because a cartoon character's does.

Exactly! I had a client show me a picture of an anime character with these huge, spiky points all over. He was so sure we could make his thin, straight hair do that without any product. I had to gently explain that hair needs some kind of hold to stand up like that, it's not magic. It's like expecting your car to fly because you saw one do it in a movie. The look on his face was pure disappointment, but we found a cool textured cut he loved instead.

People forget that real life has rules cartoons don't... you see it everywhere with impossible house paint colors or car mods. It's a funny kind of wishful thinking.
