PSA: That $200 clipper sharpening kit is a scam
Bought a clipper sharpening kit off Amazon for $200 thinking I'd save money long term. After 3 tries it wrecked two pairs of my Wahl Seniors, and a repair guy told me those cheap stones ruin the blade alignment. Has anyone else had luck with a pro sharpener in the Midwest?

I get what you're saying about the $200 kit being a scam, but I've actually had decent luck with a mid-range stone set for half that price. You do have to practice on old blades first though, or you'll mess up the alignment just like you said. A good pro sharpener in the Midwest will run you about $12-15 per blade and is way less risky than DIY.

Hang on, @lindaowens, is this really that big of a deal? I mean yeah you can mess up a blade if you're careless, but it's not like you're defusing a bomb. Spending $12-15 every time you need a touch up adds up fast if you cook a lot.

Yeah I read somewhere that cheap whetstones wear down unevenly and actually make things worse over time.
