Serious question, my regular client who's a carpenter told me he'd never let a barber use a straight razor on him after a bad cut in '08, and it made me realize we might be pushing the 'classic' experience too hard for everyone.

He said the barber nicked him pretty good near his ear and the guy just shrugged it off like it was nothing, which got me thinking maybe we focus so much on the tools and tradition that we forget some people just want a safe, clean haircut without the extra risk, even if it means skipping the hot towel and razor finish.

Yeah, it's like that with a lot of old-school services now. We get sold on the fancy, authentic experience but the basic skill gets lost. Like a coffee shop that cares more about the rare bean story than making a drink that's actually hot. Or a mechanic who talks up his vintage tools but can't do a simple brake job right. The classic stuff is cool, but not if the person using it isn't careful anymore.

Consider how many perfect straight razor shaves happen without a single nick.
