Spent 45 minutes looking for a leak in my smoker and it was just a loose screw

I was setting up my offset smoker for a brisket cook last Sunday and smoke was pouring out of a gap I couldn't find. I checked all the gaskets, sprayed water on the welds, even taped up the lid hinges. After damn near an hour I realized the door handle screw had backed out and was just holding the latch loose. Anyone else waste a ton of time on something that dumb?

Man I feel your pain. I spent a whole afternoon chasing a mystery leak in my kettle grill once only to find out the ash catcher was just sitting crooked. Not even a real leak just a dumb misalignment. I even bought a whole new gasket kit for no reason. Makes you feel like a real barbecue genius when the fix is just turning a screw. At least we didn't have to call a welder for that one.

Haven't you ever wondered if these mystery leaks are just the universe telling us to clean our grills more often? I bet half the time it's not even a real problem, just a sign our gear is dirty.
