TIL my firebox door warped from a cheap gasket kit

Took me 4 hours and a trip to the steel yard to cut a new plate and bolt it on. Anyone know a gasket brand that actually holds up to 275 degrees for more than a month?

Saw a thread last week where a bunch of people were swearing by the Rutland gasket kits for their wood stoves. They said the adhesive is way better and the material doesn't get brittle and crack after a few hot burns. That warping issue sounds like a total nightmare to fix, especially having to fabricate a new plate. Might be worth checking if their stuff is rated for your specific temp range.

Yeah, @robin_henderson81, that Rutland tip is solid, their adhesive really does hold up better.

Check the temp rating on the box before you buy, some of those kits aren't meant for super high heat.
