Bought a 50 dollar scheduling tool, turns out the free option was better
Last month I paid for a fancy scheduling app to auto-post my stuff at peak times. Three weeks later my reach actually dropped, turns out it was spamming my feed at weird hours that messed up the algorithm. I went back to manually posting at 7am like I did before, and my numbers jumped back up in 4 days. Anyone else noticed paid tools hurt more than they help once you hit a certain follower count?
The "spamming my feed at weird hours" part got me because I did the exact same thing with a tweet scheduler back in 2021. Set it to fire off posts every two hours while I was asleep, woke up to a bunch of replies from people in other time zones wondering why I was posting at 3am. Turns out the tool was just doing what I told it to, I just had no clue what times actually worked for my own account.
