Just realized how much the algorithm killed real connections on Instagram

I was at a photographer meetup in Brooklyn last fall, and someone mentioned they missed the old days of Instagram where you could just post a photo and people would actually see it. Back in 2015, I could share a shot of a fire escape and get real comments from 30 people I actually knew. Now I feel like I have to play detective to figure out what the algorithm wants - hashtags, reels, stories, carousels - none of it feels genuine anymore. Has anyone else noticed their engagement tanking no matter what you try?

Started overthinking my captions so much I stopped posting at all.

Overthinking is the death of posting, right? Just throw something up there and move on.
