That time a TikTok about a broken AC unit blew up my business for a month

About two years ago, I posted a quick video showing a simple, common mistake people make with their home AC filters (putting them in backwards). I had to choose between making it a quick, funny clip or a longer, detailed tutorial. I went with the funny clip, showing the 'wrong way' with a silly face, and it got over 2 million views in a week. The calls and DMs were insane, I booked a solid month of work just from that one video. But then it died off just as fast. Has anyone else had a viral moment that brought in a huge wave of business that wasn't really sustainable? How do you handle that spike?

Man, that sudden drop-off after the spike must've been brutal to deal with.

Booked a solid month of work" from one clip is wild. That's like winning the small business lottery for a minute. Going from normal days to a phone that won't stop ringing. Must have been chaos trying to schedule all that before it just... stopped.

Read a piece about how that kind of spike can actually wreck a small operation if they're not ready for it.
