Switched from spray lube to wax drip for my commuter chain
I used to just spray on that wet lube every few days and deal with the black gunk all over my pants. Last month I tried Squirt wax drip on a new chain and I haven't had to clean the drivetrain once in 500 miles. Anyone else make the switch and notice their chain lasting way longer?

Clean the chain first or the wax won't stick and you'll regret it.

Well ain't that the truth, but has anyone actually checked if their degreaser residue is the real problem here? I've seen folks scrub a chain squeaky clean only to have the wax flake off because they used a solvent that leaves a film behind. Sometimes the cleanest looking chain is the worst one for waxing if you don't get the chemical gunk off first.

Jump into degreasing with something simple like isopropyl alcohol or a citrus based cleaner. @miles72 is right that a dirty chain messes up the wax. I used white spirit at first and the wax flaked off in a week. Switched to simple green and hot water, dried it totally, then the wax stuck perfect. Also helps to shake the bottle way more than you think before dripping it on.
