I finally gave in and tried that show everyone was talking about
Honestly, I thought 'The Last of Us' was just another zombie thing and skipped it for months. My friend basically forced me to watch the first episode last weekend. Ngl, I was wrong, the story and acting are actually incredible. I ended up watching the whole season in two days. Has anyone else had a show totally surprise them like that?

The first season of "The Good Place" got me. The ads made it look like a silly sitcom about heaven, but the twists completely changed the show. It went from a simple comedy to asking these deep questions about what it means to be a person. Totally blindsided me in the best way.

Totally, that show was a masterclass in hiding its real depth. @the_holly nailed it, they made you think you were just getting a dumb comedy. My jaw was on the floor.
