I popped into a Facebook group for Costco meal ideas last Tuesday and saw someone suggest using their rotisserie chicken bones to make broth. The comments section had 200 replies arguing about whether you should boil it for 2 hours or 4 hours. Has anyone else seen a simple cooking tip turn into a full blown debate in those groups?

Last week I made the best chicken wings of my life by accident

It was a Wednesday, and I forgot to defrost the chicken so I just threw frozen wings in at 380 for 25 minutes. After 15 minutes I remembered I had a bottle of Sriracha honey sauce from 3 months ago sitting in the fridge. I tossed them in that and put them back for the last 10 minutes, and they came out crispy and sticky perfect. My roommate said they were better than the bar down the street. Has anyone else had a random lazy night turn into your best air fryer win?

That "apology" video from the bubble tea chain that just made everything worse

I was scrolling through TikTok last Tuesday and saw this brand called Boba Bliss post a 3 minute apology video for a delivery mix-up. Instead of just saying sorry for the wrong orders, the owner spent most of it blaming the delivery app and then tried to promote a new drink flavor at the end. Within 24 hours, I watched their comments go from 50 angry people to over 2,000 people roasting them for being tone-deaf. Has anyone else noticed how brands kill their own PR by mixing apologies with ads?

I think detailed worldbuilding docs kill the story

Everyone in this sub loves those massive lore bibles. I used to write them too. 50 pages of history for a short story about a guy finding a lost key. Then I read a Stephen King book where he spends 2 sentences on the town's founding. Now I just write characters bumping into stuff and let the reader fill in the blanks. Anyone else ditch the notebooks and just start typing?

The week I had to rewire a house that was also a cat sanctuary

Got a call for a full rewire on a 1950s bungalow last Tuesday, and the owner failed to mention her 27 cats lived inside. Every wall plate I removed had a stash of cat toys behind it, and I found three live mice in a junction box. The worst part was trying to fish new wire while a tabby named 'Sparky' kept attacking my fish tape. Finished the job on Friday, but my van still smells like catnip. Anyone ever had a job where the 'existing conditions' were a total surprise like that?

Rant: Saw a 'restored' 1920s sideboard at the Portland antique mall with a polyurethane finish

It was a beautiful piece of oak, but they'd coated it in a thick, plastic-looking poly that totally killed the wood's character. The dealer argued it's more durable for modern homes, but I think it's a shame to put that on period furniture. What's your take on using modern finishes on antiques?

Unpopular opinion: those $100 wireless temp probes aren't worth the hype

Nah I gotta disagree with you on this one. I picked up a ThermoPro TW-2 last year and that thing has been a champ through like 20+ long smokes. The app stays connected even when I'm out running errands and the probe holds up fine at 275 for 12 hours. I think you might have just gotten a lemon or maybe the brand you tried is one of those knockoff ones. My buddy had the same problem with a random Amazon brand but swapped to the Fireboard and loves it. Not saying every expensive probe is perfect but my experience has been the exact opposite of yours.
