Used a piece of railroad track as an anvil for 2 years, finally got a real one last month

The old track was fine for basic stuff but I never realized how much bounce it had. First time I hit hot steel on the new anvil the hammer just... stuck. Like the energy went into the steel instead of back into my wrist. Been having way less fatigue on long days. Anybody else make that switch and notice the same thing?

You ever get that weird ghost vibration feeling in your arm after using a track anvil?

Three months of working with a 60-pound pneumatic rivet buster and I swear my left hand still feels like it's holding a jackhammer even when I'm dead asleep. The phantom vibrations are the worst right after I've been doing overhead work on those old bridge sections, my arm just keeps buzzing for hours like a cell phone nobody turned off. I tried wearing those anti-vibration gloves but they just made my grip worse so now I just deal with it. Honestly at this point I'm pretty sure my hand has developed its own nervous system separate from the rest of me.
