The quiet disappearance of player elimination games
I was going through my shelf last weekend and realized I haven't touched a single player elimination game in like 5 years. Back around 2018 my group would play Bang! or King of Tokyo constantly, but now everyone wants games where you stay in until the end. I think a lot of the newer euro-style games from places like Essen changed what people expect from a Saturday night. Does anyone else's group just avoid games where you can get knocked out early?

My old group still plays elimination games all the time. We keep Bang! in rotation and I think it's fun to watch from the sidelines and roast people still in. @joseph_torres I get what you're saying but sometimes getting taken out early is part of the tension, it makes everyone play faster and less careful.

Is it just a gaming thing though? I swear this same shift happened everywhere I look, people don't want ANY risk of sitting out or being left behind anymore. It's like we're all scared of missing out on something.
