I finally tried a structured debate format for our book club and it blew our old chats away.
Our group in Austin used to just talk in circles about 'The Silent Patient', but last month we tried a formal pro/con list on the unreliable narrator trope. Having to pick a side and back it up with a page number made people actually listen and think before talking. What's the best book you've used for a real debate?

My buddy's sci-fi group had a similar breakthrough with "The Three-Body Problem." They were all just agreeing it was cool until someone made them debate if the main character did the right thing by inviting the aliens. People got so heated pulling quotes about humanity's survival, it changed how they saw the whole book. That structure forces you to dig deeper than just saying you liked it. What other books seem built for that kind of clash?

Yeah, that "forces you to dig deeper" thing is key. My book club totally fell apart over "Gone Girl" because we couldn't agree if Nick was just a jerk or an actual monster.
