Shoutout to the book club member who brought the wrong book last March

I was sitting in the back corner of the local library meeting room when Carol pulled out a gardening manual instead of the mystery novel we'd all read... she'd mixed up her tote bags and nobody had the right pages to discuss. The whole hour turned into us flipping through her book and arguing about whether tomato cages work better than stakes. How do you handle a meeting when nobody has read the same thing?

Oh man, that's better than half the book club meetings I've been forced into. At least you got a heated debate about gardening equipment instead of sitting there awkwardly while everyone lies about finishing the book. Honestly, that sounds like a total win. Next time I'd just lean into the chaos and let someone bring a cookbook full of typos or a half-finished crossword puzzle.

@wright.lisa you REALLY nailed it with "lean into the chaos" because that's exactly what you gotta do with these things. Half the time people just show up for the snacks anyway so why pretend it's about the book? Next meeting I'm bringing a map of a grocery store parking lot just to see what happens.
