Just noticed something cool at the old mill park downtown
They've finally labeled all the native plants along the creek path with proper botanical names. I spotted a huge patch of Claytonia virginica, which I'd always just called spring beauty. Has anyone else seen a local spot step up their plant ID game lately?

My friend got so excited when they labeled the trees at her kid's school, she spent an hour trying to pronounce "Acer rubrum" out loud.

Yeah, proper labels make a huge difference. I always snap a photo of the tag and the plant together, helps it stick in my memory later.

Snapping a photo of the tag is smart. I do the same thing. My local library garden started labeling herbs last month. Seeing "Ocimum basilicum" next to the basil plant finally made it click for me.
