DAE check a brand's apology video for the 'comment turned off' trick?
Last week I noticed a clothing brand on Instagram posted a 2 minute apology video about their messed up sizing chart, and every single comment was turned off. I checked their older posts from 9 days before that and comments were still on, so they clearly flipped the switch right before posting the apology. I did the same thing with two other brands that had drama in March, and both had comments off on the apology but on everywhere else. It takes like 30 seconds to scroll back and compare, so is this the new way brands dodge the backlash or am I reading too much into it?
This is the same move as when a company screws up your order and suddenly the phone line is "experiencing high call volume" for a week. They're not sorry, they just don't want to HEAR it. Comments off is the new hold music.
