PSA: the 24 hour apology draft trick saved my brand's butt

Last month our snack company posted a tone deaf meme about napkins and people went wild. My first apology draft was pure panic, full of sorry and sobbing emojis. Instead of posting it, I waited 24 hours and rewrote it with just facts and a real fix. That version got 90% less hate and even some 'ok that's fair' replies. Now I swear by the delay method for any crisis post. Has anyone else tried waiting a full day before hitting send on an apology?

Wait until you see how many emails, texts, and group chats would be saved if everyone applied this. The amount of times I've watched someone fire off a heated reply at 11pm and then sheepishly apologize the next morning is way too high. Your brand move is just the professional version of what we all should do before sending anything emotional. Give your brain a night to sleep on it and suddenly you realize you don't actually need to say half of what you wanted to. It's like the universal rule of not grocery shopping when you're hungry, except for words.
