Finished a tricky archway in a single day

Had to rebuild a curved entryway on an old house in Tacoma. The original bricks were a weird size, so cutting them to fit the radius was a pain. Got the last one in right before the rain started. Anyone know a good source for odd-sized reclaimed brick?

I had to find matching bricks for a 1920s fireplace in Ballard last year. The best spot is Second Use in Tacoma, they have a huge yard sorted by size and color. I'd also check Earthwise in Seattle, they get odd lots from demo jobs all the time. Bring a sample brick with you to compare, it saves a ton of time.

Matching old bricks sounds like a special kind of hell, lol. You basically become a full time detective for a pile of clay. At least you get a cool story out of it when you're done.

Yeah, cutting those weird sized bricks for a curve is the worst. My buddy had the same issue on a porch in Portland. He spent a whole afternoon trying to match some old Chicago commons. He finally found a salvage yard out past Gresham that had a whole pallet of them, but it was pure luck.
