Rant: I was paying for airport food for years before a stranger in Bangkok set me straight
I always bought a sandwich and drink at the airport before a flight, thinking I had no choice. Last trip, a guy next to me at the gate in Bangkok pulled a full meal from his bag and said, 'The 7-Eleven across the street is a third of the price.' I felt so dumb. I'd spent maybe $15 extra every trip for a decade. What's your go-to cheap airport food spot you wish you knew about sooner?

Remember buying a single banana for five dollars once.

Got stuck in Denver once with a six hour delay and zero cash left. I ended up eating a whole pack of those peanut butter crackers from a vending machine for dinner. I mean, it was grim, but it cost like two bucks. Now I just shove a bunch of granola bars in my bag's front pocket no matter how short the flight is. Saves me from the overpriced sad salad every single time.

Actually, those vending machine crackers are like three fifty now. I mean, it's still cheaper than the real food, but it adds up. I just pack my own stuff too, it's the only way.
