Pro tip: Skip the fancy coffee pods and buy a $20 french press
I was dumping $45 a month on those single-serve pods for my morning coffee. Got a basic french press off Amazon for $19 and a bag of ground coffee for $8. That bag lasts me 3 weeks easy. Who else has swapped out a recurring cost for a one-time buy that actually works better?

The pre-ground stuff is fine but grinding fresh right before you brew makes it taste way better - you're right about that. I started doing the same thing with a $10 hand grinder from a kitchen supply store. Takes maybe 90 seconds to grind enough for my press, and I just do it while the water is heating up. The difference was honestly bigger than I expected, especially with a darker roast where you really get that fresh flavor.

Wait, have you tried grinding your own beans for the french press? I picked up a little hand grinder for like $15 and it changed everything. The pre-ground stuff is fine but grinding fresh right before you brew makes it taste way better, like restaurant quality coffee. Plus whole beans stay fresh way longer than ground coffee so you can buy in bulk and save even more. I got a 2 pound bag from a local roaster for $20 and it lasts me almost two months now.

Oh man @nancygrant you just reminded me I got this old hand grinder from a garage sale that I still haven't tried yet, maybe this weekend.
