Spent $200 on a meal kit service to save on groceries. Ate takeout all month anyway.
I signed up for one of those meal kit boxes thinking I'd finally stop wasting food and money. First week was fine, but by week two I was too tired after work to cook the stuff. Ended up ordering pizza while the ingredients sat in my fridge going bad. After a month I had spent $200 on the kit plus another $150 on takeout. Has anyone else fallen for the "this will save you money" trap with these things?

Hell yeah, I switched to freezer meals. Way less waste.

Oh yeah I read somewhere that freezing meals actually locks in nutrients better than keeping fresh stuff in the fridge for a week. It makes sense when you think about it, the flash freezing process stops the nutrients from breaking down. Plus you're totally right about the waste thing, I've been tossing way less food since I started doing the same.

Isn't it possible that freezing meals actually loses some texture and flavor that you just can't get back though? I mean @max_ross mentioned the flash freezing thing locking in nutrients but I feel like we're ignoring how many people end up with freezer burn or just forget about stuff for months. Not saying it's all bad but I'd rather just buy fresh more often and plan better.
