DAE think the 'we're a family here' pitch at a $22/hr job interview in Denver is just a way to skip paying overtime?
Last Tuesday I sat in a break room in Denver for a warehouse job posting $22 an hour, and the manager said 'we're like a family here' before he even said the pay. I did the math on the drive home: 50 hours a week and no overtime comes out to around $880 they keep every single week. A family that expects you to clock 10 extra hours for free is not a family, that's a bill you didn't agree to. Jobs that say this in the first five minutes almost never post the shift length in the ad, and that tells you plenty. Ask what the overtime rate is in the interview and watch how fast the smile changes. Has anyone here actually gotten a straight answer when they asked that question?
