My uncle insisted I should buy a house in Phoenix back in 2019, and I'm so glad I listened.

He said the market was about to take off, and he was right. I bought a small place for $275,000, and similar homes on my street are now selling for over $400,000. It's made me really trust his advice on local market timing. Has anyone else had a family member give them a financial tip that paid off big?

My aunt told me to buy a specific tech stock in 2016, just because she liked their phones. It felt like a weird tip at the time, but it went up a lot. I see this a lot now, where the best financial advice comes from family watching their own backyard, not from experts on TV. They notice the new factory being built or which stores are always packed. That local, ground-level view can spot a trend before it makes the news. Your uncle seeing Phoenix's potential is a perfect example of that.

Lucky guess. That same advice would have lost people money in plenty of other cities.
