My nephew in Austin kept calling things 'mid' and I had to look it up.

Now I hear it everywhere online and even from a client describing a paint color. Does this word have any real staying power?

Oh my gosh, it's just a word. People have been calling stuff "lame" or "basic" forever. It'll fade out when the next new thing comes along, and we'll all be confused by THAT. It's not that deep, honestly.

Words can still hurt people even if they're trendy. Calling something "lame" makes light of a real disability for a lot of folks. Maybe it's deeper than we give it credit for.

Yeah, and it'll sound just as dated as "groovy" does now.
