Appreciation post: A broken jointer nearly shut my shop down for a week
The motor on my 8-inch Grizzly gave out halfway through a big maple order last Tuesday, and I couldn't find a replacement part locally. I ended up calling three other shops in town before one lent me their old machine to finish the job. Has anyone else had a major tool failure during a tight deadline and how did you handle it?

Honestly, I just factor that risk into my deadlines now lol. A backup plan for key tools is part of the job.

I get what troy832 is saying about backup plans, but honestly that feels like giving up on fixing the real problem (which is tools breaking). I'd rather spend that energy finding better gear or a good repair guy before it happens.
