My old boss swore by biscuits for face frames, I went with pocket screws and never looked back
Everyone in the Boise shop I came up in used a biscuit joiner for every face frame joint, and my lead told me pocket screws would show up as bumps through the finish. I built 14 birch face frames for a kitchen on State Street last spring with pocket screws and a Kreg jig, and not one bump showed after two coats of lacquer. Faster too, maybe 20 minutes saved per frame when you add up the glue and clamping. Anybody else switch and get grief from the old guard over it?
