Had a chat with a veteran installer in Buffalo who told me I was wasting time by not pre-terminating my runs in the truck.
He showed me his setup where he crimps and tests every cable before leaving the van, and after trying it for one day I cut my job time by almost 40 percent - has anyone else found a simple workflow change that saved them that much time?

Wait, you mean I'm supposed to actually crimp and test before I get on site? I've been treating my van like a mobile trash can of tangled cable ends and hope it works on the day.
Seriously though, that guy's a genius. I've spent more time climbing up and down ladders to grab a missing connector than I'd like to admit. Pre-terminating sounds like one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments, except I was too busy tripping over my own slack to notice.
Now I'm wondering if he has a system for not losing the little dust caps either, because that's my other time sink.

Pre-terminating in the truck" is smart. I floor my van in blank stock and it's a mess.

Getting all that prep done before hand just means you're carrying a bigger box of fragile pre-made stuff that can get bent or mangled while you're hauling it around. Blank stock you just pull what you need and cut fresh, no worrying if that connector got crushed under a ladder.
