Found a cheap spacer trick for old Pentax lenses

I kept getting soft focus with a vintage 50mm on my adapter, tried shimming with tape and it wobbled. After a trip to the hardware store in Austin, I grabbed a pack of #6 brass washers for $1.50, stacked two of them behind the mount ring. It squared the flange distance perfectly, sharp as anything now. Anyone else use hardware store parts instead of buying specialty shims?
