Lost $60 on a cheap brass shutter speed ring from eBay
I bought a replacement shutter speed ring for my beat-up K1000 off eBay for $60. The listing said it was brass, but it turned out to be some pot metal that stripped out after just 3 adjustments. The threads were so soft I couldn't even get the original screws to bite again. Anyone else get burned by those cheap parts from China?

Whole world's gone soft like that pot metal. Screws strip, zippers break, buttons pop off everything now. Paying more for stuff that lasts less.

Think you're making too big a deal out of this. A brass ring stripping after 3 adjustments is annoying but not the end of the world for a beat-up K1000. You can probably find a beater body with a good ring for less than that $60 anyway.
