Told I was using the wrong screwdriver for shutter screws

An old timer at the shop I buy parts from kept insisting I use a JIS driver for Japanese camera screws, not a Phillips. I ignored him for about a year thinking it was the same thing. Stripped three screws on a Pentax K1000 last month before I finally bought a real JIS set. He was right, the fit is way tighter and I haven't stripped one since. Anyone else find this out the hard way or is it just me?

Wait did your buddy learn that the hard way too or was he smarter than us?

...so wait, you're saying he actually tried it and it went bad? Man, I thought that stuff was supposed to be foolproof. Guess not.
