Unpopular opinion: My camp light saved my video call setup at home
I got a big bright lantern for night cooking at the campground. Now I use it behind my laptop during work calls because it lights my face way better than my old desk lamp. It does not cast weird shadows and the battery lasts for days. It is a simple fix that made my home office look way more professional.

That point about it not casting weird shadows is key. Good lighting isn't just about being seen, it changes how you feel on camera. You seem more confident when your whole face is evenly lit, not just half of it.
