Walked into a networking event downtown and noped out after 10 minutes
I checked out this career mixer at a hotel in Austin last Thursday. It was just 40 people standing around awkwardly sipping the same warm beer. Nobody was talking about real jobs or skills, just surface level "what do you do" stuff. I left after realizing I could have spent that hour applying to 5 positions online instead. Am I the only one who thinks most of these events are a complete waste of time for actual career growth?

Yeah those things are the worst? Total waste of time.

Dude YES. I walked into one of those things last month and bailed after 15 minutes because it was just a bunch of people being fake and handing out business cards to nobody.
