My miter saw stand collapsed halfway through a deck job in Tacoma

I was cutting a long 2x10 for a deck frame last Thursday when one of the leg locks on my portable stand gave out. The whole thing tipped, sending the saw and the board flying. I had to stop everything for about an hour to check the saw for damage and rig up a temporary support with some scrap blocking. Has anyone had a similar stand failure, and what's a more reliable brand you'd recommend?

Portable stands are a weak point. Should have just set the saw on the ground or a couple solid sawhorses.

Yikes, that's my nightmare. Those leg locks are a known failure point, but people rarely talk about checking the actual hinge pins. Mine worked loose over time from vibration. A dab of blue Loctite on the threads during assembly would have saved you.

Yeah, the vibration thing @laurac96 mentioned reminds me of my old camping chair. One of the legs just gave out one night from the same kind of wear. Not a fun surprise.
