Just realized I was over-stretching carpet in corner rooms

Tim from the supply house told me last week to only stretch about 80% of what I normally do in tight corners, and the first job I tried it on came out way smoother with no wrinkles near the baseboards. Has anyone else found that less tension actually works better on small rooms?

Learned this one the hard way after pulling up a corner room and fighting with the carpet for an hour. Found that in smaller spaces there's less room for the carpet to settle and breathe, so backing off the tension keeps everything flat without that tight pull near the walls. Also started using a knee kicker with a softer touch on the head, just barely tapping it in place instead of really ramming it. Do you find the same trick works for closets or hallways too?

Rough lesson to learn but glad it's working out now. Small rooms are definitely trickier with tension than most people expect.
